Hot-start problem

Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!

Mystery solved, I think. I'm sad to report that I KILLED THE CRANE BRAIN!

From the Crane XR700/XR3000 instruction sheet:
"The XR700 requires ballast resistance to limit coil current."

Last year when I "upgraded" the coil to one with an internal ballast resistor, I unwittingly started pumping too much current to the Crain electronics box. So, before going back to an electronic system (i.e. hooking up Jeff's Allison XR700), I need to either go back to a coil with external ballast, or put a 1.6-ohm power resistor in series with the power lead from the coil to the brain box.

Boy do I feel stupid.

At least you figured it out...

At least you figured it out... and keep in mind we've all done something similar. My most recent bout of stupid was when I had my Scorpion's fuel pump relays in the wrong sockets, and fried a bunch of oil pressure switches.
