Body mounted front turnsignals idea needed ?

'74 - '78 front turn signals

The '74 - '78 front turn signals will work and look OK. They do stick out a bit from the body but they are "stock". I think the stock '79 - up front turn signal lights (later Spiders too) look good too. They don't stick out very far, and you should already have them.

Also, as stated before, the '75 - '78 grill will bolt in for you. You can probably find someone to trade you one for your '74.
