Hello All. Been a while since I posted. I swapped my 1986 X headlight with a new switch from C. Obert for a 1980-82 X. My original went out and its now my daily driver, so the search was on for a new switch. No luck on an exact replacement, but the folks at C. Obert told me the 80-82 would work. No instructions included. Side note....the car has the BWM.
The wires basically go to the same spots/terminals, but I scratched my head for quite a while making sure to get it right. Very nervous about more electrical gremlins :hypno:
So here's a series of pix and JPEG of a powerpoint I drew up. Not as nice as BobBrown's imp: electrical schematics so bear with me
Sorry about the links to the pictures. I have NO IDEA how to embed photos in our new forum and it puts my blood pressure into orbit:censored: trying to find the "click here to upload" area/button. I thought computers were supposed to make this stuff easier :guns:
One of the oddities with the wiring is that some "positions" are not actually terminals at all. Both stock wire connectors hold three wires each (only one shown in these photos). They are both offset by one terminal...either high or low on the switch.
The 80-82 switch doesn't use this style of connector. Just individually terminate each wire.
