Hi guys,

For those of you following on my saga that started in June, I lost the engine. Bust after months of research and ordering parts, the rebuild has started. The builder removed the engine on Friday and it goes to the machine shop this week to start putting her back together. The machining and building is going to take some time, so now I have to concentrate on what happens when it comes back from the machine shop. One of the items I wanted to upgrade was the alternator. I have some info on the GM alternator upgrade. Does anyone have a part number for the actual GM alternator to use? Are there other alternators (Fiat/Alfa) that will work and give decent amperage? As always, thanks for the help/advice. Cheers....

I just installed one from Rock Auto. REMY Part # 91751
63 amps. Also needed the Painless wiring pigtail 30706 from Summit Racing and a universal alternator bracket. See my project log. There's an FAQ also in the archives.

I used a CS130 but it's harder to mount so don't.
There's tons of threads on this, Camaro alternator for a 350 or something.

As I have said many times before, I elected to use one of the most COMMON, ROBUST, and INEXPENSIVE alternators out there so I would not necessarily ever have to carry one on board again!

HTH...
