55.000 US Dollar X 1/9

True Classic
Ciao amici,

Probably you cannot believe this but last week a Dutch clubmember recieved her new restored Fiat X 1/9 1300 Serie Speciale.
Afters 2 years of work and more than 2000 hours the X 1/9 is finished some days ago. But there is a story on it. About 25 years ago the owner (a lady) bought this car and sold it many years later. Then she and her husband wanted this same X 1/9 back and found it in the Netherlands in a very bad condition.
Gert van Kooten from ASA (our great X 1/9 specialist in the Netherlands) made this X 1/9 better than new. Total costs about Euro 40.000 which is US Dollar 55.000. But with new interior, leather door panels, leather dashboard, new carpet etc. etc.
As the lady owner says: this car has more value for me than a Ferrari, it is my baby and I will never sell her again

saluti,

Henk Martens

I love it!!! It's nice to see people willing to spend so much to restore an X1/9.

Fantastic. I'm sure it will be enjoyed for years to come, a true time machine!

It doesn't cost any less....

...in labor to restore a Fiat than a Jaguar, Maserati or other exotic.

But the parts are a hell of lot more affordable.

Yes, there are people world-over willing to make substantial investments in their classic Fiats.

Another fine example. With a lot more soul than a new BMW which will be outdated and unappreciated in 3 years.

Thanks for sharing.

Better than it ever came from the factory...

Shame on her!

HA!

Its good to see that there are folks out there willing to do stuff like this... as well as to see that PASSION is still the most motivating factor in why we do anything.

BTW... Ya know most MEN do things for TWO reasons, A GOOD reason... and the REAL reason.

What she means to say is "I spent way too much and I'm so far under water financially on this car I might as well drive it" :)

great work though, looks wonderful and would be happy to have anything approaching that :)
