'81 door on '77 X?

....interior door handle mechanism to deal with. Different door panels, ect. Dimensionally the door shell will be the same, however.
 
Later doors more versitle

The later doors have a different inner panel that may be able to accommodate the earlier door card and handle.
 
The door I am getting for free to give to a friend so I know he wants to use the knob and door card from the bad '77 door to keep everything inside looking the same and also the door handle on the outside.
