wheeler dealer-Porsche 914

BellaMacchina

1976 Fiat X1/9
I am not sure how old this episode is but it is a good one!

The Porsche 914 reminds me of the X19 quite a lot for a lot of good reasons. Probably it is the closest the show has come to X19 territory even considering the Fiat Dino and Lambourghini Urocco reso.

So Mike buys a 914 from a farmer who stored it in his barn, it became a home for his mice for 6-8 years so you can imagine the state of it. The farmer sells it to Mike for 4000 pounds with the stipulation that he shows it to him once the reso is complete, because he is still quite attached to the car, they agree.

After the restoration is done, the farmer bought the car back for 8250!

LOL! Great episode!

Wheeler Dealers is a Favorite :)
"Ohh come on have a deal with me?" lol

went looking and ended up watching the lastest on a 3rd Gen RX7, pretty cool, check it out, they ruined it with the graphics package, IMHO. Very cool car though. Off to look for the Porsche episode.

Season 10 episode 5, April 16, 2012
Good one. Can't believe I missed that one. Targa restore looked familiar! Interesting approach to reapply the texture (filler primer dabbed on with a little stick to places where the texture was gone). Edd's spray job looked a little spotty though! I think mine was better. I'd love to see them do an X. I've always liked 914s, not as much an X mind you.

This is one of my favourite episodes, especially as they spent so much time on the mechanicals. I have to say the Fiat Dino is my all time favourite, that was a really lovely example they found. It must have been a fabulous drive back through Italy with the sound of that Ferrari V6. Just one thing, I would have kept those lovely period orange carpets! I really hope they do an X1/9 one day.

the Dino!

I really enjoyed the Dino restoration as well! You are in good company Edd liked the orange carpet as well. I would say from what I have seen to date the 1960's Cadillac was their most ambitious project. It was quite a rotten apple. In this case I believe Edd was given the freedom to go all out, with several modifications including a metalic lime green paint with specialised pin-stripe designs including gold leaf. It was interesting.

The Lambourghini Urocco restoration was still my favourite episode. It took Mike to Poland where the car was sitting in a very tight corner of a garage, the car could not be started because the timing belt was loose, it could not be moved because the brakes would not disengage.

Of course, in Canada, we enjoy the British terminology too...time to get busy with the spanners and then off to the paint shop for a lick of paint. Reminds me of when I was in London and had to ask the waitress what bubbles and squeak were ;)

I agree...

I thought the targa restoration was a bit, "dodgy."

The tops are not painted, it is gelcoat! They should have tried to refinish it properly, it looked bad!

The rest of the car was good tho, I liked what they did to the paint on the rest of the car with a rather aggressive compound I also liked how they fixed the interior.
