This is the 1st-Reverse slider from a Porsche 901 gear box on the right hand side of this image. On the left is the 1st-2nd-Reverse slider from the Fiat 5 speed. They are quite similar in size and design.
This is the flip side.
They fail and wear out in precisely the same way they do in the Fiat gear box with all the same problems except that slider cost a few hundred dollars to replace.
These Porsche slider engagement teeth are really, really wore out.
Notice the reverse gear outer engagement teeth on the Porsche slider are nicely round off from being used.. no different than what happens in the Fiat gear box.
Side view, Fiat on top, Porsche 901 on the bottom.
These problem are common to any gear box using Porsche/Servo band syncros which is why they have become a thing of the past.. a good thing and lesson learned that Porsche German engineering is not always "superior".
