Climate controls

If you still have the faceplate off, try getting some glossy white model paint and paint the inner surface of the area surrounding the illuminating bulb....it will help "smooth out" the backlighting of the fan and temp ideogram.

Good idea Dan. Unfortunately the faceplate is back on. Next time. Cheers,

Joining this discussion late; hope some of the Xweb heating system controls experts might still pick up on this thread. I removed the original, non-functioning, AC + Heater from behind the dash and am replacing it with a non-AC system. Thanks to Matt, I have all of the bits for complete system (as shown on the Workshop Manual), except 2 heater knobs, which I hope to acquire after the reinstall is complete.

The tricky way that the 3 cables connect to the 3 lever arms, with "double bends", and the fragile looking plastic sheath "hold downs" make me want to do this right the FIRST time.

Are there any good references out there for installing a complete non-AC system? I sure hope I don't have to take the entire dashboard out.
