Who services these cars nowadays?

I have an '86 X that I'm trying to get running again after sitting for many years. Fuel system is all gummed up plus all the other stuff that typically rots when sitting.

Had every intention of taking it to Midwest to do their magic but Matt told me they aren't accepting repair work unless it's a K20 transplant or a full restore.

Contacted Vick (used to live down the street from them before Robert sold the company) and got the same story.

I'm finally in a position to get my beloved X fixed properly after hauling it all over the US with me every time I moved and now I can't find anybody who works on these cars.

Anybody out there that does service work anymore?

Welcome to Xweb!

Welcome to Xweb roiscuba!

If you can find a foreign car specialist in Little Rock, perhaps they will work on it or be able to point you in the right direction. Here in St Louis there are 3 X owners and we work together to keep our cars on the road. Hopefully some other AR based owners will chime in with some shops or offers to help you sort it out yourself.

Good luck and don't forget to post some pictures of your car. :)

Thanks Jim

Actually been a member of the forum for years but some how my username got deleted and I haven't been active on the forum for quite a while.

I just really don't want to hand my baby over to the locals, rather find someone that pretty much exclusively deals with these cars.

Welcome back....

I wonder if you may have closer to a full restore than you might imagine. After sitting for several years, it's amazing how many things need attention. Have you actually gone through the car and made a list of what needs to be done? Even with no cosmetic work, you may have enough to make the work worth Matt's while. You might also consider apple motors in Denver. They do a terrific job! Quite a drive, but so is Columbus. And the mountains are really nice. Just a few thoughts. Post some pics. We'd love to see your wheels.

geter done

make three lists.
wants
needs
affordability
it all depends on cash at hand.
and what can do
want you to do
and oh hell no!!
but there is nothing you can't accomplish with diligence, patience and a keen eye.
you have a cornucopia of knowledge on the forum here, and I am sure all will pitch in to help!!
if it is drivable, take it one of those places that does an oil change and a free 29 point inspection. but they want to UPSELL to make money. but it will point out spots to start with.

Send it up to Eureka Springs and leave it with me for the next five or six years and I will work on it for you for a reasonable price. I won't even charge for all the test drives it will need.

Welcome back then...

I think you can see by the comments so far... and if you've been lurking all this time... then you should already know who is both the BEST and STUPIDEST mechanic in Little Rock is...

Much like the idiot I use here in SoCal...

We are here to help with parts and GOOD advice based on experience as we live VICARIOUSLY through folks like yourself... and love to start cars half way around the world form our keyboards.

If you aren't willing to invest about 2 hours of work for every hour you drive I would (respectfully) suggest looking for a Honda.

Hope you choose the former... Hopefully someone close by might be willing to stop by and lend you a hand!
