Bertone art prints from the studio.

Greg (in Conn)

Bertone curator - X driver
Former Bertone employee friend contacted me that he found another box from packing up the offices after the closing.
Some of the prints were actually hanging on the walls of the studio.

Very rare air stuff.
Some small teaser photos until I can get these prints framed.
Last pic is a web photo showing one of the prints on the wall behind Nuccio.
Make the insanity stop..

I can't do that Dan,

That would interrupt my plan to steal them from Greg.

Greg, I don't know how you do it. You seem to find this stuff before any one else gets so much as a hint of it's existence.
I am truly amazed.

Cool stuff Greg...I especially love the one with Nuccio.
I would never sell them.

Bertone was truly proud of his X1/9 creation.
It is amazing on the amount of collectibles there are for the X1/9... and still being discovered 40 years later!

gotta love the hunt!
He sent me a trilogy of Bertone badges that were left in a drawer as well.
So indeed the second + third run of badges being offered as replacements... quality was vastly different from the original badge that was on the car from the factory.(different manufacturers for sure)

badges and artwork

are you going to sell some of them, or are ya gonna hog them all for yourself???:)
love to have two of the Bertone black/chrome emblems.

Prints are the only ones I have so NFS for sure.
Badges are cool but not worth selling.
You'd be better off buying the nice metal repros from Henk as he stands behind them to take the outside weathering.

The 2 Bertone badges at the bottom of the photo were for the grill on the Bertone Freeclimber with the BMW engine. (so not a match for the X1/9)

those Bertone chrome emblems are all over eBay-UK for the rear quarters of the Vauxhall Astra Bertone.
Not hard to find and an easy get brand new..:)

Greg,
You could take orders and take the prints to a FedEX store and reprint them on some nice paper... I would pay some for a couple of the reprints. But again, I would take preorders so you are not stuck out of pocket.
Just a suggestion :),

Good idea Mike. I'll get some pricing and take it from there.
I have a ton of vintage X1/9 prints.

I do have some multiples of this one.
my favorite by far!
September 1973. This was attached to the Quattroruote magazine in Italy and Fiat used the design on the first X1/9 brochure.

This will be the one I'll try and post back. :italia:

Actually I was thinking the same thing about the possibility of making some nice prints to offer for sale.

I would definitely be interested in purchasing any prints that you do. Please look into it. A couple of years ago, I sold an original artwork Amazing Spider-man cover by John Romita. I wanted to keep a copy of it, so I went down to Kinko's (Fedex Office now) and used their large format color copier. Very nice reproduction. I put it in the framing I had the original in, and it looked exactly the same, even from a close viewing distance.

Take (or have taken) some high resolution digital images using a tripod and high end camera, and make enquiries about 'giclee" printing.... I had some of my late wife's artwork reproduced in this manner... basically it's very high quality printing on a canvas base using a specialised printer which sprays the colour medium onto the canvas...

if you offered something like this for the green X19 print (and maybe limited it to 99 or 100 copies and numbered them) I will put my hand up for number 1.

If your only going to offer them here, and not try and sell 1000's of copies on ebay, I can't see a problem.

Is there an artists name or a copyright symbol on the artwork?

Is the article you have an original or a copy itself?

Bertone is long gone.

Whilst if they were still a going concern I could see friction, now it has all been folded away I doubt it will be an issue.

Perhaps if you had Lilly's permision, write her or the girls a letter perhaps stating that you will limit it to existing members of XWeb and limit the numbers so it is not seen as 'comercial enterprise'.

Often it is easier to seek forgiveness than ask for permission though.

If you do get Steve's proposal off the ground . . . . .

I'll take #4

But harder work still a triptych ( a tri-part type painting ) series on canvas of the Concept Runabout, the Quattroruote bifold and ending in the Green Series 1.

I'll be happy to pre pay for that to a conciderable sum.

Also I own a M4/3 Mirrorless Olympus setup that does 43Mb studio images, be happy to shoot them and send them back but the freight would be a killer. There's that tyrany of distance getting in the way again.

Best of luck

Sandy
