Got lucky on my power window issue

The passenger side pw on my 85 was stuck in the up position all summer. I finally pulled the door card and found that it had the cable/pulley pw set up rather than the central post style I expected in an 85. I gave away the emergency winder I had in a box of random parts figuring I had no need for it. The door cards in my 85 do not have the plug for using it. I should have looked inside first. Oh well, live and learn.

I ordered another winder for about $50 and it arrived today. In my testing I had discovered the motor seemed alive and well. It tried to move both up and down. The plastic travel limiter was in pieces in the bottom of the door, so my hope was that I had run the window up so far that the motor just couldn't muster the torque to get the window started down. I plugged in the winder and moved the window down an inch or so. Not the pw motor is happy again and the window goes up and down. Time for a new limiter I think.

Hmmmm

Since there are no pix to document the activity, it calls into question whether or not claimed activity ever actually took place......

:)

I took 1000 pictures

I didn't want to flood the zone Dan. I took 1000 pictures at the various stages of the window going up and down by emergency crank. (If you have ever used the emergency crank, you know what I mean. It takes 4EVAH) I just didn't think anyone would care to see them. So I will just share this picture from the victory celebration after the window was working.

Ya know Jiminy... its stuff like this that could impact...

your position here as an Xweb Moderator. Be forewarned!

But ya got MY vote... and a 100% raise in pay as well!

Oh... PW's... do pull the console switches and give them a thorough cleaning (preferably) by disassembling them... But a big squirt of WD40 or Computer Keyboard cleaner and blowing them out will help as well...

You are right Tony, sorry about that picture

So you are saying WD-40 would be good. Is this the right product?

Damn. I did it again. My bad.

Apology accepted... But ya know...

PB Blaster is well known for its Famous Penetrating Catalyst... even though its "wand" has not been artificially altered like the ones found on the "new" WD40 cans.

They have also "partnered" with Ralph Lauren and have branched out into other ventures that are more "Family Friendly"... unlike the obviously pompous and sexually explicit ads and displays the other brand uses...

And... they have an exclusive license with UPS for 24/7 delivery options. I choose to purchase mine one-can-at-a-time and consume about 10 cans a week... I love that "Utility Dolly" also!
