Motorweek - Fiat X1/9 Retro Review (1982)

Power assisted brakes. :)

Nice overview and really interesting to hear the perspective of the X vs competition at that point in time. I guess the X1/9 brakes are so good the reviewers assumed they were power assisted? ;)

way cool...

Good review and I see that John Davis, as many of us, has grown to be a man of "more substance"... but we can still comfortably fit into the cockpit of one of the all-time great small sportscars.

Didn't you guys get the Power Brake option? Maybe...

it was just another one of those other "dealer installed" options on the California Special cars...

(hehehe!)

He says:

$10,990 Base Price
$12,169 Retail

The video goes on into the next segment. They test a 1984 Honda Prelude. He says it has a $9,995 Base Price.

That's tough price competition vs. the X back then.

This is the first review I have even seen that they don't complain that an X 1/9 has a lack of power. I have always thought that the X 1/9 had adequate power for spirited driving, particularly considering what other cars of the same era were doing.

Yep

Agreed... it's all relative. That's a simple fact that I am fond of pointing out to the naysayers, envious and the jealous.

"Compared to what?"
