The good, the bad, and the windshield...

So we had an ice storm about a month ago...and I was an idiot.

Half an inch of ice on the windshield, I warm up the engine, and turn on the hot defrost...CRACK!

Geico covered the glass in full, ordered from MB, although it took quite a while to schedule the tech. Yesterday, we finally hooked up and replaced it.

The bad: we determined this was the original windshield. It still had the wire in the urethane

The good: I have a new windshield

The Amazing!: No RUST!!! When we stripped back all of the urethane, I inspected the entire windshield frame. Like new paint and no rust.

That is excellent! I had the wire in my old 74 that I pulled out..it was in pieces and have rust spots / sections I am replacing. Definitely enhancing my metal working and welding skills.

Nice to see.. did you order a new U-channel from MWB as well?

The plastic inside edging? Yes sir. We were able to remove and reinstall the chrome edging.

Oh, I mean the interior rubber trim that the windshield sits against.

I know I have a little rust under my windshield that needs to be repaired, so when it's time to restore - I have to plan on fixing that properly. I did buy the U-channel from Matt, as the previous glass shop turned mine into a bit of a mess.
