MOAR PLEASE

Always interested in more info, although I understand how tedious documenting the steps can be.

Enjoying your progress on your blog too, Pete!

I will be adding more of my own progress soon as I am finally making a smidge -non 037 though.

Rear suspension question.

Did you fab the upright from scratch or was it modified from something else?

I am really enjoying this thread. Keep up the great work.

Mick makes the hub carriers from scratch to his own design. He has tried to make it look like the original. Mick's version takes a Ford Sierra bearing with custom 5x108 stud hub.

Thanks to Mick - his skills are amazing! Yes I only realised a couple of days ago that the Rally and Stradale front ends are different! I'm happy to have a Rally front end though.

This is awesome - love all the detail pics of the fabrication. Thanks to Karl for linking this in the DF forum :)

It's an Audi 6 speed 2WD gearbox.

Modified Classic Mini door hinges for the rear clamshell...

Unfortunately progress has halted for the time being as Mick recently suffered some heart problems and is now recovering.

Modified Classic Mini door hinges for the rear clamshell...

Very interesting. I have been looking around for hinges and haven't found anything suitable. I was looking at a stainless steel marine strap hinge, which is flat, and building a cosmetic aluminum cover over that, but I'll have to look into mini hinges if it's easier.

Sorry to hear about Mick, but glad he is on the mend.

Pete

Would an 850 Spider rear deck hinge serve? It's from the Fiat family and might be sufficient for the job and has the right look.

They may well do, if you can get your hands on them. The Mini hinges are new aftermarket aluminium and quite cheap too!
