need room

mikemo90

True Classic
I have 8 hoosier 20.0x17.0x13.0 slicks to get rid of.
they will only get me in trouble on the street, so they havta go, (besides needing the room)
I an thinking 40.00 each plus shipping, or if it's more cost effective send a call tag. all look to have 60% tread left, maybe more.
I can and will entertain all offers including trades.

Tire Size

I am reading the tire size right, 20" tall x 17.0" wide on a 13" rim?
You would need a 16" wide rim to mount that on.

Cantelever slicks fit narrow wheels (the opposite of tire stretching!)

I believe the regular sizes that most racers used were 20X8 and 20x9.5 if my memory is correct (these fit under large flares/wide body kits.

A 20x9.5 fits a 6" wide wheel.

hoosiers

the sidewall is 3 1/2 inches, the width is 9 1/2 inches and the diameter is 20 inches.
and the rims are 8 1/2 inches wide. I also have a set of steelies that will work with the slick's, but I think they would fit on a narrower wheel

tires

don't really know. they don't have the build date as is on street tires.
it looks that mike mittelstead got one set in 2012 and they are still bundled for shipping. I can only assume that they were from between 2009 or 2010. none of the tires show any sign of weathering or checking on the sidewalls. they are used tho. the depth holes measure between 4-5 mm.
e mail me if interested, or if local swing by and have a cold one!!

20x9 non cantilever

They are #43186 Formula Atlantic fronts in R35 compound.
Hoosier website has full specs.
8" is minimum rim width
Track only! Not for street use!

Purchased from John Berget Tire in mid/late 2012.
Possibly early 2012 tires. Unlikely to be older than 2011.
They thumbnail out just fine.
R35 compound is very soft,
and is Hoosier compound I used over 20 years.

Paid about $370 for 'em with shipping,
They were qualifying or practice tires,
with majority of tread remaining.
Stored inside house in dark place
away from electric motors.

I anticipated using 'em for 2013 season.
Then broke my foot, and realized in 2014
my uber-track car days are gone forever.
Only 4 tires available. The other 4 on the car are trash.

Happy to answer any other questions,
but limited internet for next few weeks.

tires

thanks for filling in the blanks for me.
really don't want to part with them, but my garage is stacked full.
also getting rid of the slicks from Winston west days (Camaro).
if I do some auto crossing in the future, I'll run what's on the car.
drive it there have a helluva good time and drive home. I'm not so much into winning anymore. It's all about the fun. with my luck they will be gone and the scca bug will bite and my foot will be in my mouth.
they had a street rally in nearby Vallejo years ago, ad it was total fun racing through the streets and not have the black and whites to outrun.
hope they are what is expected and you need them
mikee glad you are enjoying yourself down south o the border

sorry papa
it's not on me. actually I think he flew to the closest airport and had a 3 hour bus ride and a 1-2 mile hike to the cabana. he had said that t.p.
is hard to find and I told him to peel the labels off the beer bottles and let them dry before using them, or the next one would be for his finger......he says you and I talk too much, and that would be your response.....ha
not enough my friend!!
send a missive when you can:excited:

I hadta look up "missive"...

I guess that would be fitting, relative to me... and you!

But nobody on this board writes PROSE like he does!

I'll try and do one better though... Send me his address or PO box in Mexico and I'll send him an "autographed" Mega Roll of Super-Duper-Soft Charmin. That would/should care for most of his problems while soaking in the sun...

mr. mittelstead

papa I don't think they have a phone service there let alone a post office. maybe by mule??
he is still on line a little bit from down there and the infrequency's of messages tells me that his hands are both holding beers and he can't type with his nose(yet), or he's in the commode waiving beer labels.
hate to sell the tires, but room is a priority here.
a member in Oregon want them and pondered if mike was driving through, he could bring them up, but I'm sure he'll fly home, or maybe that proverbial wild hair will kick in and he'd drive home from la. with a stop by you to say hey, and check on black beauty's progress.
hope all is good

These tires are AWESOME!

Had my first chance this weekend to get on the track with these tires...
OMG! last year I had difficulty keeping the back end of the car in the back...
With these tires on the car I was unable to MAKE it break loose...
Mega fun on practice day today... looking forward to competition tomorrow...

Please do tell...What kind of tires are you referring to? Always interested in different options.

Nice Andy!

AJ...glad to see the remnants of my vanquished RaceX project
re-directed and providing good times for you & your 128 racer.

Now you're hooked on that addictive drug...adrenalin rush of sticky race tires!
Get prepared to peel off a stack of $100 bills in the future.
