X1/9 Value - old article, new to me

deadline design

'85 Bertone
While waiting for some work to be done on my son's car in a shop today I was perusing a Oct. 2014 issue of "Martins Sports Car Market" magazine and ran across the attached article of a X that had recently sold for $30K+. 'Course, it was showroom original with just over 2K miles on the odometer....

I was a bit confused as to the total Bertone production stated of just 20K vehicles. Seems a bit low to me.

This may have been shared a year or so ago when there was a discussion re. increasing value for our cars. My apologies to any redundancy.

Those numbers look like others I have seen for total X1/9s sold as FIATs and Bertones.

Production numbers....

As far as I know the total production was just over 160,000 cars from the early 70s to the late 80s. Perhaps the 20K reference is to the Bertone versions that came after 82 or so.

In the UK and Europe the X1/9 has a much higher value than ones here in the States. In the U.S. the X is under-valued and under-appreciated.
