Almost Local Car Show - Counsel Bluffs, IA

Tavalin

Florida Mike (again)
Well, I took my '86 X to a local muscle car show at the Quaker Steak and Lube and they actually let me in. I was just really wanting to eat and look at cool muscle cars but as I pulled up the sponsors waved me in the actual show lane. Wow, a lot of fun!

I was a real honor to be included in the same league as some of the cars at this show, really great cars. Very few foreign cars. There was a Rolls Royce, Acura NSX and a Miata... Is a Delorean a foreign car??? Anyway, not many. My X was the only Italian car represented. I did not think my X would draw many folks but a lot actually stopped over to have a look. The older gents said, "I remember those".
Great fun with my neighbor. Great time with a lot of cars.
That is it... Hope you enjoyed the pics.

Oh, and this is not the August show that I am getting ready for. This was just for fun.

Karma Shows

I like to think that a lot of folks go to car shows to see cars that they don't often see anymore....that's why I like to go.

When a show attendee says something like "Wow, I remember these," or "I [or a friend/relative/girlfriend/etc] had one of these back in the day," or "What the heck is this?", it makes me feel like I have done my X1/9 "good deed for the day."

Hey Mike... they are the ones that should be HONORED...

to have YOU in the show!

I guess with that striped OFFICIALS shirt they musta thought you were one of the judges! HA!

Next time when ya park... take up TWO spaces and/or park diagonally and open ALL the doors, trunks and engine cover.

I would suggest using coathanger wire to open the doors and hold them halfway though... and make sure the trunks and engine cover are all at the same angle.

Makes for an awesome display, IMHO!

And... I know the feeling as a couple of times I have been honored by friends as well as strangers, arriving at a show and being escorted and given a special place in which to park, front and center. It was if they were WAITING for us to arrive and then begin the festivities! HA!

Black-Tooth,
As always, you crack me up. The fella in the striped shirt was my friend who drove a Miata and almost got us waved off. The second person in a sponser's yellow shirt saw the X and waved us both in. Miata got in by being with an X...the irony.

It is really great to show my X1/9. A lot of folks remember X1/9s but can't remember who made them. Apparently, these used to be "all over the place" according to one old timer. Now, only three are registered in the state of Nebraska.
If you say the X1/9 is different, get a load of these;

I do believe these take the award for different...

Anyway, it was great to see people respond to something they don't see everyday.
More fun to follow. I am really starting to enjoy the fruits of all that cursing... I mean labor (money).

PS. I thought the owner of the Delorean was going to go out of his mind with everyone asking were the "flux capacitor" was...glad that Back to the Future didn't use an X1/9.

You have time to fix your X before the next show

Tav,

You probably have time to get your X ready to park with those guys before the next show:

Of course if duallies are too much for you, you can just go 4x4:

someone needs to lay off the pipe and/ or moxie!!!
all kidding aside there is a dude that has about 100 vintage cars. he is a welder by trade, and makes cars jacked up four wheelers for his kid to go in the acres he has and total destroy them.
people like that should be locked up.......no fiat as of yet, but god knows what would be next.
