I like the idea of its claim to wick moisture from the car, The longer the exposure, the drier it'll get. In theory.

Anyone been near one to witness its operation ??

thanks

I have seen them and priced them

and definitely considered getting one. But I have not seen one in person and do not have any experience with them.

They run about $400-500 for a small one, at least for the brands I was looking at a couple years ago.

Seen them work

knew a guy that stored a 70 Hemi Cuda in one of those a long time, he was very pleased, know another guy that stored a plum crazy CHALLANGER IN ONE AND SAID IT CAUSED STANGE DISSCOLORATION TO THE ORIGINAL WHITE INTERIOR, TURNED OUT TO BE FROM MOLD...ssssooo... clean thouroghly before doing

My friend keeps his 308GTB in a CarCoon - it's fully framed, you can drive in and out of it - you don't need to roll it up (and nor would he ever let vinyl touch the paint!.. it looks like a toy in a box (I'll post a pic).

I don't like this one - so every time the power goes out, it collapses?

If it's pulling in humid air, then that humid air is in the bubble - that's what I don't like. I monitor the humidity in my garage, and if I had something very expensive in there - I'd put in a dehumidifier.. The one thing that is good about this, it the base should be able to prevent moisture from rising to the car - a piece of vapor barrier would do this as well.

Thanks for the replies

All,

Your ideas and response are appreciated. That constant air exchange has me intrigued. Power failure? Brief, in time, sheet vinyl resting on the auto surface should have negligible impact on the painted surfaces one would think.

Les... I saw them demonstrated INDOORS at the LA CAR SHOW...

but I have never met anyone that owned one!

The trick is to COVER the car with a regular car cover with the soft white vinyl (fleece?) interior and also find a way to de-humidify the intake air. Those "DESICCANTS" bags can be placed inside the car or storage capsule itself.

Not a bad price of $58 bucks too...

But hey... what the hell are ya doing? I guess you plan to store the car for 6 months at a time... and that would work I guess. Otherwise... they are certainly time consuming to set up and take down. But most folks I see in this ad love them! Seems the air being exchanged constantly is said to remove all the moisture as well!
