Pics from Laughlin to Temecula Return Trip...

Just Another FIAT Freak
As with every good drive out, there's a return home. Although the plan was to cut the travel down to the shortest bee line home, I fudged it a little to enjoy some other sites the desert offers.

The way back we took a different route, leaving Laughlin NV on Needles Hwy to I-40, then trekking a while down I-40 to Kelbaker Rd, where we turned off and enjoyed some of the attractions along the old route 66 before heading south past Amboy crater to 29 Palms, where we picked up CA62 again and backtracked (sort of) the way we came.

Heading south on Kelbaker Rd - sadly a 20 mile stretch of Rte 66 between I-40 and Chambless has been closed so we had to start at Kelbaker...

Hope you enjoyed! Better yet, I hope it encourages you to take your X and make a road trip photo journal too.
The trip was great fun - one highlight on the way back we were able to witness a movie filming (an actor on a motorcycle driving thru the desert - we passed him going the other direction so maybe there will be another X siting on screen?) LOL

Classic road trip for sure.

What sort of speeds were you running, especially on the straights? And for fun, any idea of mileage?

I have driven the Amboy-to-29 Palms route and it is desolate.

I have driven the Amboy-to-29 Palms route and it is desolate.

For the most part I was driving 60-65mph - that seemed where car, throttle, and cockpit wind converged to their happy zone. I didn't take a mileage check but my estimate is low to mid 20's.
