Manuel writes about his car in 2006... 280 hp, 1620 lbs = 5.78 lbs/hp (Stock '79 with 67 hp, 2200 lbs = 32.8 lbs/hp)

Koob and Caristi compete in whats known as Historic class, lots of freedoms but require the original capacity and cylinder head, suspension design etc.

Dondi (Manuel and his Father Aldo before him) compete in Prototype class... lots more aero, tyre size, suspension freedoms and engine capacity and type changes.

The hyabusa engined X19 competes in Prototype (P3) as well,

An Alfa 155 2000 is in fact an iteration of a Fiat 16V 2000 engine... as used in DTM touring cars (shilouette class)... a serious racing special, but it's still essentially Lampredi Fiat powered.

Dondi has been P3 champ for a couple of years in northern Italy, and this is a Serious race car (with a capital S ...like 100k$$ in development)

Don't see any K20's in the winners circle....

Not Dondi, but this guy does run the original engine (HA-HA) and the car seems to inspire quite a few X19 owners.

Take a close look at the cambox and the front engine mount....underneath all that custom fabrication is Lampredi's finest.

from his website some specs...

Motor : 4 cylinder. Boring 86,4 mm. Slaglængde 61 mm. Slagvolume 1.425 ccm. Kompres-sionsforhold 6,5 : 1. 2 ventiler pr. cylinder. Effekt ca. 350 HK ved 1,4 bar ladetryk. Drejnings-moment ca. 340 NM. Max omdrejningstal 10.000 omdr./min.

which I'll guess at 'cos I don't know Danish...
4 cylinder
86.4 mm bore
61 mm stroke
swept volume 1425 cc
Compression ratio 6.5:1
2 valves per cylinder
350hp / 1.4 bAr boost / 340 Nm / 10,000rpm

I would also guess he chose this capacity as the usual multiplication factor used by the FIA for turbocharged engines is 1.4,which puts this engine at 1995cc in it's class,so it's an under 2 litre race car!

I still don't see any K20's in the winners circle!

wondering

what type of transmission is in that car?? looks like a slap shift of some kind. the only ones I know of are of from open wheel racing, or motorcycles.

built a go kart many years ago(before they had shifter karts) with a Yamaha rd 350 motor and that was how it shifted. and for those who want to know... I had the clutch lever on the steering wheel and only needed it to take off and stop. I am surprised that I survived my childhood:shock2:

Not sure Mile,my Danish isn't too good...

Transmission : 6 trins sekventiel Dog-gearkasse med 19 individuelt udskiftelige udveks-linger. Tryksmurt med oliepumpe, filter og køler.

but this is what google says...

Transmission: 6-speed sequential Dog- gearbox with 19 individually replaceable exchange - offices. Press lubricated with oil pump , filter and cooler.

I would guess "exchange - offices" ... really translates to swappable ratios, but definitely sequential...there's a pic of a transmission on the bench in his workshop, and it looks like a highly modified Fiat transmission casing, so he might have got really clever and got it all to fit inside the regular space.
