Dixiefest was a success

There were Fiats in the land of Dixie this weekend thanks to Denise.

There might have been more X1/9s than124 spiders at the event and X1/9s took home most of the hardware.

John Montgomery took 1st in the road rally in his very red 87 X1/9 and took 3rd in my 87 X1/9.

For the autocross the fastest 2 Fiats were also 87 X1/9s Walter beat me by 0.2 seconds.

Denise put on one hell of a show. The road rally roads seemed to have more turns the dagontail and the roads were empty. I am not sure how fast I was suppose to drive, but I came in 2minutes late on a 2+ hour drive and I was over posted speed limits on every curvy road.

The auto cross was a simple M course that took a lot to get lost, but really let my power slide the X1/9 around cones. I had a blast.

The real thanks goes to Denise's clan who worked hard to help Denise put on one of the best Fiat events I ever attended. 15 cars in an autocross is perfect. 7 runs each in less than 2 hours.

The best entertainment was Denise's 11 year old daughter Amber tearing up the track in the lemon racer car. That girl only knows were the gas pedal is.:clap:

Thanks again Denise and when is next year's? I need to mark my calendar now.

Today I was fortunate enough to meet yet another awesome X1/9 owner local to the Lancaster PA area (Jim). As many of you know Ive made quite a trip to acquire my X1/9 and Ive got to say its been a real privilege for my wife and I to have gotten to meet many great and enthusiastic people over the last few weeks. I strongly encourage anyone that's been on the fence about meeting fellow Xweb-ers , whether it be because they may feel their car isn't at a certain level or because 'car meets' aren't their cup of tea or what ever the reason may be, get out there! The friends we've made in just the last 2 weeks alone have made owning our X1/9 even more pleasurable then it already was to be. From Brooke and myself thank you everyone:italia:

As mentioned Jim and I met up this afternoon to check out each others rides and take the opportunity to meet another local Xer. After the introductions, inspections and small talk was outta the way; it was time to get down to business and hit the local back roads for some moderately spirited driving, in Pennsylvania's Amish country side. While cruising on what had to be one of the nicest days all year, we began scouting for the just the right spot to capture a few shots of our beloved little Fiats. After several miles and a few turns taking us further into farm country, we stumbled upon a large dairy with a paddock perfect in size for our amateur photo shoot. Our cars caused many an inquisitive look from the countless bicycles and horse drawn buggies in what can only be described as the Amish equivalent of rush hour. Unfortunately I have to report that I've some how seemed to leave my Sony memory card reader at home in NC:wall: Fortunately though Jim also brought his camera and should be sending me his pictures later this evening or tomorrow. In the mean time please enjoy a few great tunes :music:

Well today I met up with a friend who drives a WRX. I managed to talk him in to unbolting his rear spoiler so that I could borrow it for a bit and throw it on the back of my car just to see how it looked. I like the look at certain angles but I think it's might be bit too over the top for the X.

Head identification help

I stumbled apon a Yugo a week or so ago in a local salvage yard. I want to buy the head and eventually swap it into the X (if its an 1100) Did Yugo's come in 1300's ? on the front of the head near the mounting base read '1290' What year/trim level was the 1100 and 1300? are there any other parts I can scavenge for performance from this car?

Header Rusting

Looks like I have a problem with the ceramic coating on the Allison header.

I've sent these pics to Mark, hopefully this can be resolved.

Some of the folks out on Cali have probably already seen this car, but here are some pix of a 78 street-legal track-day car that we converted to K20 driveline, with the Hondata ECU. Dyno'd at 238hp with a 1765 lb chassis - 7.4lbs/HP! Because it was a track car we had the luxury of chopping the rear cross member, and clearing out some other obstacles, but this is essentially the same kind of install that we did in the green car a while back.
